The Painted Cat Challenge

My boys and I were reading a children's book called Chester today and the main character is a cat. We all just loved the pictures so we decided to try and paint our own cats. My 8 year old son painted the picture on the left and I painted the picture on the right. We just used the cheap little watercolor strips and I just love the way they turned out. I think I will try and spend the summer challenging them to create different pictures. I can't wait to see what they come up with

Flower Delight Series Newest Paintings

I am trying something new with my paintings and am doing a flowers series. I am really pleased with the way they turned out and plan to do some more with different color variations and backgrounds. It felt really good to step out of my box and try a new look. I did these with pens and watercolors.

Mushrooms have Sprouted!

I finally just got some new watercolor paper and I was asking my kids what they thought I should paint and my 7 year old son asked for colorful mushrooms in different sizes. This is the result and he loved it.

A new picture I did with watercolors and pens. I was trying out colorful backgrounds. I like the way it turned out.

I am so HAPPY with these Paintings

I decided to try my hand at painting with watercolors and then using a black pen and this is what happened. I really like it and I feel that I just hit my mark. I love the way they turned out and I love using both ink and paint to create. I started small with the green and blue one and then moved up to 8x11 for the pink and orange one. I can't wait to try more colors and shapes.
